My friend Rick and I went to the first F1 event at Circuit of the Americas in Austin in October 2012. Contrast the proximity of spectators to cars with my earlier post of Monte Carlo 1986.
In May 1986 we took a trip to Monte Carlo. Nominally a business trip, it spanned the weekend of the Grand Prix, and my employer was kind enough to provide me with the equivalent of a press pass that got me trackside.
